The CommuteSmart incentive programs are designed to help make the move to alternative commutes easier for everyone to get involved. Program details are subject to change at any time, but if changes occur participants will be notified.

GetGreen is a one time program that offers commuters $2 per day for everyday an alternative commute is taken in the first 90-days of participating in CommuteSmart. Each commuter is eligible to receive up to $120 in during this period. Commuters are paid for each day they choose to carpool, telework, take transit, bike or walk to work.  A minimum of 13 alternative commutes must be taken during the 90-day period to qualify for a check (this would equal a $26 check). Commuters must live or work in Jefferson or Shelby counties to be eligible. After you have completed the GetGreen program, you will automatically be enrolled into Commuter Club. Please register in our database before applying for GetGreen. Vanpool participates are not eligible for this program.

Commuter Club is an ongoing quarterly program for “club members” that log at minimum 20 alternative commutes over a three-month period. Each carpooler is eligible to receive a $25 gift card during this period. Commuters that choose to carpool, telework, take transit, bike or walk to work are eligible. Commuters must live or work in Jefferson or Shelby counties to be eligible. Commuters participating in the GetGreen incentive will automatically move to Commuter Club after their 90-day period expires. Vanpool participates are not eligible for this program.

Two for the Road is a program designed to help you ‘test the waters’ before committing to start a vanpool. You chip in for gas, CommuteSmart pays for the rest! We will also give you $40 worth of gas gift cards to get started.

One of the most common reasons people give for not trying commute options is the fear of being stranded at work or unable to get home quickly in an emergency. The Emergency Ride Home program takes the fear out of leaving your car at home. If you are registered as a participant in the CommuteSmart database, you are eligible for the Emergency Ride Home program.
